I was fortunate to have grown up in the lush tropical landscape of South Miami, Florida.
My brothers and I spent our days riding bikes, fishing, and swimming in Biscayne Bay. On weekends, our family went to the beach or traveled to the nearby Florida Keys. I loved growing up in South Florida and always appreciated the tropical fusion of cultures, music, art, and food. Who knew that the tropical surroundings, vivid colors, and textures of Miami and the Florida Keys would someday inspire me to design, create, and curate unique jewelry reflective of the Florida lifestyle?
After college, I started making my own jewelry and began selling it to friends and family. Using natural stones, shells, and glass beads, I designed and curated jewelry that was unique and not “just another necklace or silver ring.” I wanted the person buying my jewelry to have something different and special…a classic piece they could wear a lifetime.
In 2002, I set up shop at a local Market to sell my jewelry on Saturday and Sunday during the Florida Tourist season. It was the start of Key West Sterling Silver Company, and I loved the creative aspects of designing jewelry and building a business of my own.
Season after season, local and out-of-state visitors shopped with us, searching for that perfect gift or their next piece of unique and beautiful jewelry. I began catering to the customer who seeks value and quality while wearing unique and timeless jewelry pieces made with high-quality silver, gold, and gemstones that could be passed from one generation to the next.
